Like the Cotton Touch by Sushant Thapa

Tonight, I will step out
Again in my Varandah
After the lights are put off.

I love to walk in the dark
The silence is too soft to step
There is stillness like the enflamed candle.

Shouldn’t there still be calmness
After the candle is put off?

I love to walk in my Varandah
After the lights are off.

I lose the robes of light
My role as a service of delight
Is also put off, for a while.

In the breathing silence
I sing in muteness
But the heart echoes
In greatest sprawling measure
Like a vast scenic green field
With silver waters
Shining like vast desires.

The road in front of my home
Is like a flowing river
No harsh melody
When leaves fall into it.

I wish life was like the cotton touch
Of this night that has matured,
From evening,
So close and so heartfelt.
